Teams
may be male, female, or co-ed and are comprised
of four players. |
| •
|
Two
players from each group will be stationed
at each end of the court and will roll two
balls each. At the end of the frame, the
game resumes at the opposite end of the
court. |
| •
|
We
will use North American Open Rules (Referees
from the Ken Waldie Senior Circuit, Inc.
will be assigned to each court). |
| •
|
Games
are played to 12 points or 45 minutes, whichever
comes first. |
| •
|
Winner
of coin toss rolls object ball first, and
selects color of bocce balls for his/her
team. |
| •
|
First
roll of object ball must reach at least
half court and may not touch the backboard. |
| •
|
Whichever
team rolls the closest ball to the object
ball stands aside and lets the other team
roll. That other team rolls until it beats
(not ties) the opposing ball. This continues
until all teams have used all their bocce
balls. This ends the frame and only one
team will score. Score one point for each
ball closer to the object ball than the
closest ball of the opposition. |
| •
|
Bocce
balls may be rolled off the side boards
and backboards. However, if a ball is rolled
to the backboard without first striking
another ball, it is dead and removed from
play |
| •
|
There
is one foul line ten feet from each end
board. This line is used for pointing and
hitting. |

Each
team will play two matches in the preliminary
round. Based on the results of these preliminary
games, all teams will be placed in brackets
for two additional games vying for the championship
in their particular bracket. |
